Cocoboard® is a biobased panel material manufactured from coconut husk fibres and natural adhesives derived from tannin extracts. Developed using a patented production process, the material utilises agricultural by-products from the coconut industry to create a panel suitable for furniture and interior architecture applications.
The material combines coconut fibres with a biobased binder system, resulting in a panel with structural and functional properties suited to interior environments. By using renewable raw materials and agricultural residues, Cocoboard® is designed to reduce dependence on conventional wood-based and fossil-derived panel products.
Cocoboard® exhibits resistance to moisture and termite attack, making it suitable for applications where durability is required. The material also features low formaldehyde emissions, contributing to improved indoor environmental quality. Its performance characteristics enable its use in furniture, interior fittings, wall elements, window sills, kitchen surfaces and other interior design applications.
The production approach is centred on the utilisation of abundantly available coconut husks, a by-product often considered a waste stream. Through collaboration with raw material suppliers and the development of dedicated manufacturing processes, the material contributes to the valorisation of agricultural residues and the promotion of renewable material resources.
As a natural fibre composite, Cocoboard® offers an alternative to conventional panel materials while combining biobased content with performance characteristics required for interior design and furniture applications.
